About Inma Garcia-Carrasco

  • Biography

    From my website:
"Inma is a Spanish-born artist who has embraced London life since moving to the UK in 2007.

In her early thirties she enrolled at the Facultad de Bellas Artes in Seville. Upon moving to London, she continued her training at LARA (London Atelier of Representational Art), the Art Academy and the New School of Art.

    Her exhibition credits include:

•New English Art Club 2021, London
    •Mayfair Art Collective 2021, London
    •ING Discerning Eye 2020, London
•A Painted Touch of Life (a two artists show with Suzon Lagarde) 2019, London
•Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize (finalist 2018), London
    •Espacio Gallery 2016, London
•Society of Women Artist annual exhibition 2016, London
    •Other credits:
•Sky Portrait Artist of the Year 2020, Sitter's choice, London
•People's choice award at Hesketh Hubbard Society annual exhibition 2008, London"

Painting is for me a way to channel my interaction with the world, from the emotions that I experience when I encounter in my life another human being full of their own experiences and baggage, to the simple joy of representing colours and shapes in nature and daily life that catch my eye.

    Event: Now We are Six

    Dates: 8 Apr 2021 - 2 May 2020

Venue: The Art Academy, Elephant and Castle

It now seems like a scene from a different life: opposite the National Portrait Gallery, where a giant-sized painting by Anastasia had once advertised the 2017 BP Portrait Prize, the first and only meeting of all members of Now We Are Six took place. In the upstairs bar of the Chandos, Suzon took minutes and James sketched until the dates were set, the tasks appointed, and the exhibition set irrevocably (or so they thought) into the endless chain of pleasurable distractions of which the future was composed.

When coronavirus hit, art exhibitions were exposed as relatively trivial. Who could have guessed? For Now We Are Six, the choice was either to try to sit it out and perhaps regroup later, or to do something creative with the novel situation. Partly to stay connected, it was decided to set up a virtual show on the original opening date of 9th April.

    Event: ING Discerning Eye Exhibition

    Dates: 19 Nov 2020 - 13 Jan 2021

Venue: Discerning Eye Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London

The Discerning Eye annual exhibition is a show of small works independently selected by six prominent figures from different areas of the art world: two artists, two collectors and two critics.

Event: A Painted Touch of Life

    Dates: 29 May 2019 - 3 Jun 2019

Venue: The Art Academy, Elephant and Castle

A two artists show in collaboration with French artist based in London, Suzon Lagarde.

Event: The Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize 2018

    Dates: 29 Jul 2018 - 12 Aug 2018

Venue: Burgh House, New End Square, Hampstead, London, NW3 1LT

Finalist at the The Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize 2018
