About Francesca Learmount at Cicca-Art

  • Biography
My work is an eclectic mix of figurative and decorative Art-Nouveau fantasy with organic and architectural  elements.  I work using a variety of different media - typically oils, watercolours, etchings and collage. My subject matter is broad - anything from traditional portraiture, landscapes and architecture to a series of mermaid images with Escher-inspired organic and architectural influences. My fascination with the sea stems from the fact that I am half- Maltese and used frequently to visit the islands during the summer. Malta is known for its spectacular marine life. In recent years I have begun painting designs on furniture and other household objects such as mirrors, bowls and lampshades. This additional interest of mine is a new and exciting arena in which to showcase my art.

So far I have only uploaded a small fraction of my artwork. My art-making is an on-going process - I still have plenty more to upload, and many more images that I wish to translate to paper, canvas and other types of surfaces using a variety of different media.
