About Emanuela Gambi

  • Biography
I'm a creative person, who loves to cultivate imagination and appreciates solitude and calm. This has led me from an early age to develop an artistic nature, at first drawing and later painting on different media: fabric, glass and paper.
For the past four years, as a self-taught artist, I have been painting in acrylic on canvas and paper.
My subjects are mainly Mediterranean landscapes.
I think my predilection for this type of subject is due to the fact that I was born and raised in southern Italy, in the wonderful city of Naples, and the sea has always been part of the landscape where I have lived. The beautiful gulf and its islands and the small villages overlooking the sea of the Amalfi and Sorrento Coasts are places that belong to my identity, so it's natural for me to paint beautiful sunny landscape, in which the sea is one of the main elements..
I also love to paint still lives, depicted in bright colours.
More rarely I paint the human figure, inspired by subjects from classical art.
Painting for me is a kind of meditation, through which I am able to isolate myself from the world around me and access a dimension of deep serenity. This inner state of mind is reflected in my paintings: my art does not conceal any particular message or meaning, but simply aims to convey positive emotions in the viewer both through the choice of subjects depicted and through the use of colour.
My paintings can be found in private collections in Italy and the United States.
