About Elizabeth Schurman

I am a visual artist living and working between Paris, France and Montreal, Canada for the past 30 years. I am passionate about color. It is the thread that connects our entire world. A single color does not stand alone. Placed beside another, it comes alive. There is a heartbeat. There is spirit. It shines. Much like all living beings. And this fascinates me. The creation of movement is fundamental to my work: an energetic vibration that is the source of my inspiration. The subject is really secondary. My muse is found in the vibrant energy that I feel from any given situation. I am always inspired by new materials and challenges. The basis of most of my work is now acrylic, which gives me the flexibility to work in mixed media, with different textures and materials. I am classically trained in Fine Arts and I have further studied painting in private studios in Canada, France, Germany, and Switzerland. After a career in fashion advertising and illustration, I opened my own art school for children and adults. Moving to Paris helped me to grow as an artist. My works have been shown at the Canadian embassy in Paris, and in Chatou the birthplace of Impressionism in Paris. Many of my works are in private collections. Ultimately, I live to paint and I paint to learn. By selling on Artfinder, I would like my work to find a broader reach of people. My work is about energetic vibration and I wish to share some of this with the world.
