About Antonia Glynne Jones

  • Biography

Antonia is painter, printmaker and creator of paintings, she uses a variety of media including inks, acrylic, collage, and oil paint, her favourite, however, is oil paint and she has been painting for more than twenty years.

“Luscious oil paint, feels like cooking, almost edible, can be moved around, scrapped back, poured on top of, scratched into, perhaps only surpassed by a gooey chocolate brownie straight out of the oven”

Born and raised absorbing a spectrum of African colour, Antonia’s work, captures abstracted perspectives of the subject.

“Painting is about the interaction between the discipline of observation and spontaneity of mark making in terms of my physical and emotional response to the subject”.

“I usually explore places and landscapes, from a flattened aerial perspective.  I like some grittiness in the landscape.  Whatever “it” is that inspires me, I need to have a strong emotional response to “it” – even if it is dislike.”

Antonia has exhibited in ING Discerning Eye in 2023, 2016- 2018, The AKA Contemporary Gallery in Cambridge 2023, the BSA Open 2021, and the Bath Society Open Exhibition 2019 and she is a member of Bucks Art Society and Oxford Arts Society.
