About Anna Gizo

  • Biography
One of winners of the Top 50 Artists to Watch in 2022-23.
I am a painter. The main material is oil paints and canvas. I believe that it is oil that provides unlimited opportunities for conveying the emotional background of a painting due to their plasticity and texture.
The main direction is figurative art.
Creating surrealistic worlds on canvases, I explore emotions and feelings, as well as the subjectivity of a person's relationship to various events.
Another leading theme is dualism: the meeting of birth and death; love and rejection; hope and hopelessness; aesthetic pleasure and revealing horror and cruelty of meaning - all this can be seen within the framework of one picture. This is also the main tool for influencing the emotions of the viewers and shaping their thoughts in a certain direction. To enhance the effect of influencing the viewer's emotions in her paintings, I often use symbolism, for example, a mirror reflects the truth, and a rabbit reflects the state of mind of the hero of the picture.
In my paintings, the I reveal the themes of physicality, vulnerability, dependence on the outside world, as well as the illusory nature of human reality.
I broadcast current world events and my attitude towards them through emotional images, avoiding direct capture of actions.
