  • Biography

ln painting, l am interested in the challenge of entering a confessional field, extending my boundaries and ''opening up'' by activating the unconscious.
l am intrigued by the unfamiliar since l feel that it's the only space that is broader and stretches out its opening boundaries into all directions, for a single instant gazing at the truth. But then a single instant is all that is needed to open this truth up further and redefine it.
This is a process that is also unavoidable in my paintings. Successive layers of oil paints sometimes make a canvas heavy. This piece of matter is life-condensed. Self-honesty prevails. And this can be a very long voyage, while a painting is looking for its final image.
In the end you realize that this ''mountain'' or this ''ocean'' you have been crossing all the way until now, is your own self. Whether you are the artist creating the image or the viewer who comes to enter the artwork and assign a new meaning to it.
