About Amanda Lewis

  • Biography
Growing up in an artistic household, having a mother who was a fine artist and a graphic designer father, it seemed natural for me to aspire to be an artist. They hugely inspired me to draw and paint and taught me many of the artistic skills I still apply today.

I left school to study Textile Design at Stockport College of Technology gaining an HND. I then graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a BA Hons in Visual Arts. I worked as a textile designer for 15 years supplying hand painted floral designs for worldwide wallpaper and bedding markets. I also spent several years painting murals in schools, hospitals and domestic residences.

Among many subjects, I enjoy painting seasonal florals to bring brightness and colour into peoples homes. I have also produced and sold a great many angel paintings over the years after studying holistic healing in 2006. I hope they have helped bring tranquility and a sense of peace into a very chaotic world. I apply the paint straight onto the canvas and rarely use any pencil lines. This creates a more spontaneous image.

Painting has been my great joy alongside bringing up my three children. I am a great animal lover and gain relaxation and inspiration by walking my dogs in the Cheshire countryside.
