  • Biography
Alona Hrinchuk is a professional watercolor artist based in Smila (Ukraine). Now she lives in Kyiv and works as a design engineer at an aviation company and paints. Despite the fact that there is war in country, she paints a lot. Now for her, painting is an art therapy, like a breath of fresh air after a long night. At the moment, she has an unbearable desire to preserve what she saw on paper, to illustrate the beauty of the environment, because not only human life is cynically destroyed, but also the life of nature itself.
Her genre is classical botanical painting. She works in a realistic style, in a multi-layered technique, which allows you to display the depth of color and all the beauty of objects.
“When I paint flowers and other elements of nature, I seem to meditate, and the image that appears emerges from the depths of my soul and is a reflection of my mood and emotions. Watercolor helps to convey all the shades and colors of nature as if a living picture.”
Mostly her art is based in two mediums - watercolor and color pencils on cotton paper. Uses only high-quality professional pigments and materials.
She finds inspiration in a beauty of nature, flowers and plants, in the beauty of the around environment. She works from life, photos and imagination, attempting to develop flowing compositions, an impression of serenity or dream like quality.
"I paint flowers that never fade. This is the energy of the living reflected on paper".

Alona conducts group workshops on botanical painting. Also engages in individual watercolor classes. Teaches people to see this beautiful world through the prism of colors.

She became the curator of the Botanical Art Exhibition 2023 from the Association of Ukrainian Artists of Botanical Art.

She is a watercolor expert and a teacher at the OneHobby School online art school.

She is a regular participant in international exhibitions and competitions.
A very important event for her this year was an exhibition of artworks, coordinated by the Vienna School of Botanical Illustration, is presented as part of The Art of Botanical Illustration (TABI)'s 2022 virtual exhibition.
This year her work was shown by the International Juried Art Competition “Flower-4” where her work was awarded Merit prize award.
