    Tea and painting

    Tea and painting

    I usually have a cup of tea on the go whilst painting. Tea is such a nurturing drink that makes you feel content to be in the studio working and even more so if the rain is pelting at the windows. I think this draws from my childhood growing up in Scotland where the rain was a permanent feature as well as a cup of tea. Happy memories.

    Paintings in nature

    Paintings in nature

    The door from my studio leads to this wonderful nature and during last year's snow blizzard which created such an inspiring light I thought it would be interesting to shoot the paintings outdoors. It was fantastic to see the contrast of deep saturated pop colors radiate vibrantly against the brilliant whites of the snow.

    View of my studio

    A view of my studio and a couple of my larger scaled works on canvas. The studio is an inspiring environment to work in with natural light and a door leading to nature with a pebble cove just beyond. On a stormy day you can often hear the waves crashing onto the pebble shore which is a sound I find mesmerising. After many years working in a city studio the contrast of city sounds to nature's song is revitalising.
