I paint people in a reflective manner, contemplating existence and the universal questions that we all ask. My work is greatly inspired by the smells, textures, colours and sounds of nature, all the senses that evoke emotion from the abyss of the human soul. I draw much inspiration from the beauty of life, found sometimes in individual objects, be that a feather, the wing of a butterfly, a stormy sky, or the sparkle in a person’s eye. I thrive on the beauty of life, all the highs and lows that existence and experience bring to the individual, and how the vastness of our universe can make us often feel incredibly small, although in a strangely carefree way.

I also paint small butterfly and animal specimens. Created to a true likeness in acrylic with ink added over the paint using a calligraphy nib. These small framed paintings are a bright artistic take on real mounted taxidermy specimens, a celebration of the beauty of the natural world.

Biography

Figurative artist, specializing in acrylics & often incorporating inks, embellishments and metallic leaf.

My limited edition prints are often hand finished.

All of my work comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

The beauty of the human body takes central role in many of my paintings, largely inspired by the Art Deco movement and the decadence of the 1920s. My style is distinctive, bold and mainly sculptural, through blending the paint using the smallest of brushes, and focusing on light, shadow and texture.

Incorporating different elements, and layering patterns and colour, are an important part of the creative process, hinting at the world of fashion and dreams. Much of my work has a cultural influence through tribal world art, colour therapy and symbolism. Narrative often adds an extra storytelling dimension to the work, inspired by folklore, fairy tales, and mythology.
