About Hannah Kerwin

  • Biography
    My name is Hannah Kerwin.
I live and paint in the Calder Valley amidst  beautiful and diverse landscapes.
After completing a BA Hons at De Montfort University I travelled the route of commercial artist and visualiser.
Initially I trained in watercolours but I was lured away by the fluidity and movement that oil painting offers. I found that I could recreate the effects of the changing light and how the landscape is coloured and softened, especially as the sun rises and lowers. I have a fascination for trying to capture the effects of light as it is altered by mist, clouds and rain over the moorlands and woodlands. The constant evolution in my work makes painting a compulsive daily obsession in which I spend every moment which is available. I have been successfully selling my work through Art Galleries across Yorkshire for some years and I am currently displaying pieces at Chantry House at Ripley Castle and other local galleries.
