Biography
Strong and free, unique and spontaneous, colorful and emotional, this is the message of Kelly Jenkins - a full time professional artist, based in Hampshire UK. Kelly is inspired by the sky and land around her and memories of places and people that have touched her. Her work is a reflection of nature, emotion and memories; aiming to capture cherished personal moments forever, a continuous reminder running through her work is to live in the moment.
Her paintings, landscape and abstract, are beautifully atmospheric, evocatively powerful and are admired and sold worldwide. Kelly exhibits her art widely across the UK and Europe, with work in private collections in London and abroad.
My painting practice draws inspiration from Impressionism and Romanticism, combined with contemporary elements of graffiti. The impetus for my embroidery is fuelled by my love of texture and by the historical and political landscape of textile art. I use rich colour palettes that visually awaken and stir the soul. Subtle textures achieved through palette knife, found objects and stitch give my paintings a beautifully unique and tactile appeal.
Each painting embodies an arresting sense of movement and emotion; with an aesthetic that’s full of life, they conjure up feelings of spontaneity, happenstance and energy.
I paint to find my anchor and inner calm; these emotions are channeled into my paintings for others to enjoy and find within them their own sense of enlightenment, wonder and happiness.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my work. I hope they inspire and move you and that you enjoy them as much as i enjoy painting them.
