This is one of the larger rose hip paintings, measuring 100 x 100 cm, from my tall long natural form series. Each painting in the series is carefully designed to focus the viewers' attention on key compositional devices, resulting in very striking and almost surreal imagery. I am striving to capture a sense of stillness, tranquillity and calm in each piece; this one has more natural suggestion of wind movement in it and the viewer has a different perspective of the rose hips, I hope this can add to the viewers experience. Also, the rose hips in this painting are slightly more realistic than earlier ones as there is texture within the natural head forms which contrasts well with the smooth background; the artwork represents a fusion of realism with minimalist elements. I really enjoy the tall thin stalks carrying the beautiful serene rose hips, to me it is very aesthetically pleasing and I am excited to seek out more beautiful compositions and create more dynamic rose hips in terms of the colours, tone, shape, leaves and contrast. It is not a direct or accurate representation of a rose hip head; the colour, positioning, vibrancy and leaves have been deliberately enhanced and exaggerated yet simplified to it's purest, elegant form. Direct observation from nature is often combined with an imaginative and personal interpretations. This series is completed with professional quality acrylic paints and mediums and I employ a range of representational and abstract techniques.
This painting has the border painted blue as an extension of the painting so it can be hung without a frame, it has hanging string on the back to pop straight onto your wall. I sign all my paintings with L Corr on the front of my artworks.
I really hope you like this painting and others like it and thank you for viewing my artwork. I truly appreciate it.
