When thinking of a title for this painting I was influenced by someone who said it looked a bit like a bed of seagrass underwater. Seagrasses are unusual as they are one of the few higher plants that live in the sea. In the UK the only genus of seagrass is Zostera, hence the name of the painting.
During my career as an estuarine and marine biologist I spent quite a long time surveying Zostera beds and the associated seaweeds, invertebrates and fish.
This is a peaceful, relaxing abstract that would suit anything from a period home to a modern apartment. It is ready to hang.
Acrylic paint applied with brushes and palette knives. After allowing the layers to dry a further layer of green paint was overlaid and then a silicon tipped brush was used to drag vertical lines through this to reveal p[arts of the painting below.
