In this piece, I aimed to capture the amber heat of a late summer sunset, as the final bright beams of light drop below the horizon.
The firey Cadmium Orange sky, against the deep blue waters beneath, is a striking palette.
The painting is slightly textured and catches the light, making the colours burst and glow.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The cadmium tones, are developed by layering and lifting the paint, to find previous hues and tones laid beneath, building depth, movement and highlights.
