A strange root, surely not easy on the eye but absolutely intoxicating for its wonderful fragrance. Amongst all spices, ginger is one that conjures images from ancient tales in which little working hands would make ginger bread, friable biscuits shaped like little men that would magically come to life.
This type of biscuit is very popular in many households especially during Christmas time. They can also be shaped like trees, stars, deers and then... poke a hole through them and use a nice red ribbon to hang them on your tree.
Even though ginger doesn't stand out for its beauty, it is certainly one of the most important essences of Christmas and that is why it earned a spot in my collection.
