Zen Koi, oil on canvas, 90 x 90 x 2 cm
“Zen Koi”, a flickering glimmer of red and gold, the water twists and turns. The green blue depths shine emerald as spectral life glides by. I glimpse the colour, I hang my hand in the water and feel the cool space where the graceful water phantoms live. I lose hours, watching, feeling myself being lulled with the gentle motion around me. Bubbles rise to the surface, golden sunlight refracts the shapes, Zen Koi.
Inspired by Monet’s use of colour, “Zen Koi” has been created to suggest the fleeting, impressionist shapes of carp in water. Created in vibrant oil paint and using abstract colour tones to represent the shimmer of the fish in water, “Zen Koi” is ready to hang.
