Original artwork description:

The shocking events happening in the UK this August 2024 reminded me of these paintings I did in August/ Sept 2011, responding to the last time there was unrest in the UK.

This painting was created shortly after the widespread rioting which happened in England back during August 2011. I was shocked by what was unfolding and taken back by the escalating violence happening during this time. The ramifications from this revealed the growing problems of youth unemployment under the new Conservative Government of 2010 and the deepening recession from 2008.

The painting captures the image of a young man in a tracksuit and hood whilst about the throw something through the air.

Materials used:

Oil Paint on Canvas
