Young Woman With Red Lips is a portrait that combines elements of realism and abstraction. The painting portrays the woman’s beauty, youth and vulnerability. She is presented in profile, in a realistic manner with a dramatic contrast between the vibrant red of her full, sensual lips and her black hair. This color contrast is echoed in the black and bright red of the abstract background.

The painting uses a contemporary approach to abstract figurative art. High contrasts of light and dark present a quickly readable abstract pattern, which in turn contains realistic details and modeling in the shaded and highlighted areas.

This art was recently displayed at Edgewater Art Space gallery in an exhibit with the Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists.
