Many people give only if it serves their purpose or benefits themselves. But some rare persons give whether or not they benefit. Some people are takers and some are givers. This painting is my reflection on human generosity, and it celebrates those rare persons who give with an open hand and an open heart—as Jesus does--even if it means a sacrifice to their own comfort or convenience. If you are fortunate enough to have someone like that in your life, then this painting is for them. A bright palette of warm and cool pinks, with splashes of orange and accents of teal is rendered in oil and cold wax on a solid birch panel, and the title comes from the U2 song, “With or Without You”. The reverse side of the panel has been routed with a “keyhole” for ease of hanging; therefore, no hanging hardware is required. The painting has been given a satin varnish for protection.
