Original artwork description:

All my artistic production in a general sense is an approach to two major topics: the exploration of various areas of the intimate in a search for the poetic as content in itself, and the socio-political commentary, especially that directly related to Cuba, my home country. The Island as a geography of limited space, emigration through certain and recurring themes that have already become recurring symbols in my work: the sea, fish and boats. In addition to universal themes such as power relations and economics as an existential scourge of contemporary man at any latitude. I have a degree in Art History and this has influenced the way I approach certain content, relying on the knowledge and tools that postmodernism offers as a trend, to put it in some way. Sometimes I appropriate or interpret symbols and content from classic works of the history of contemporary art as long as it serves to support the message I want to send. My work is a system where the form responds to my style and is always in function of composing a text where the content will have a fundamental weight. I propose an art of ideas that does not leave the receiver indifferent. I seek to provoke a dynamic and enriching intellectual reaction in the viewer.
