This is a small oil on board that I painted in the spring. I really like all yellow flowers, from the earliest daffodils through to the beautiful yellow roses of summer, but blowsy, floppy tulips are irresistible. I placed them in a blue and white jug that came from my grandmothers house many years ago and added a few sprigs of a burgundy leaved hebe that grows in my garden. I love the exuberance of these forms and the cheerfulness of the colours are uplifting.
I've made this painting on a small, hand cut lightweight board that I primed with white gesso primer. It measures 29cm x 20.5cm approx.
This painting is unmounted and unframed. I have included a photograph showing it displayed as it is on a small easel which looks great but it would also look good in a frame of your choice.
