AN UPLIFTING EXPERIENCE

A fantastic large statement piece, measuring 150 x 120 cm, oil painting on canvas.

I'm fascinated by colour, the juxtapositioning of selected hues which allows the eye to create its own illusion. A technique employed by many of the impressionist painters of the past. This keeps the image lively and absorbing.

The canvas was continually rotated in creation, this artwork may be displayed any way up, to suit your own interpretation!

Before painting I stretched the canvas over my in studio wooden stretcher bars which measure 152cm x 122 cm. The surface was then prepared with two coats of size, three coats of white oil gesso . This is a rough surface, cotton canvas, so lots of great texture, not a flat painting, as I do like to create many layers. No raw canvas, so no yellowing will occur. I finish the work with two coats of professional varnish.

This painting will require stretching at your local framers on standard size stretcher bars. The painting will continue over the sides of the bars,and a generous edge has been allowed for stretching and trimming.
