Artwork description:

This work represents one of five inhabited islands of the Isles of Scilly. Within the image are uninhabited islands, rocks and ship wrecks as the title indicates. [you need to look closely to spot them]. The position of the islands together with many rocks skerries and uninhabited islands and without satellites it became notorious for shipwrecks. Just a fraction of these I have included around St Martins where they sank. The islands are very beautiful and considered an important area for wildlife especially sea birds and marine wildlife. I have now completed four of these artist maps which include all five islands. Each plate has taken approximately three months to complete and because they are etchings I have had to work in reverse for the work to be read correctly.

Materials used:

Oil based printing ink on somerset satin paper
