Woodstock 1969, much more than a concert, was the affirmation of the desire of the youth to find again true values like love, friendship between all. The era was very tense with wars and serious events. Ours is not really better today, so I value the Woodstock symbol, which is for me a source of confidence in the future. Many people have kept this image of brotherhood and joy in their heads and I am convinced that those who have had the chance to live this festival , consider it as a major event in their lives.
Woodstock was to celebrate its 50th birthday, unfortunately, for financial and administrative reasons, everything is canceled. But, there is the rock' n roll spirit in the memories and nothing can take it away.
With this painting, I wish to commemorate this fiftieth anniversary and hope that many artists will do the same.
I imagined this work with a concern to keep only the essential, the typical colors of that time and the words that represent the fundamental things that should dictate the behavior we have with each other. Love, dream, music, rock' n roll, these words describe a state of mind, a way of seeing life turned towards contact with others. Peace and liberty are the essential conditions for everything to work.
This artwork is for all those who refuse to be carried away by the tidal wave of money and power and who want to proclaim loud and clear the true values that make the greatness of the human being.
I believe that the role of the artists is also to remind sometimes the important values, without which no relation is possible.
This original and unique work is hand painted and signed by myself Thierry Vobmann.
The canvas measures 70x70 centimeters. It is stretched on a chassis 3.5 centimeters thick.
It will be shipped carefully packed and ready to hang without additional frame. Thick edges are painted black.
