A two layer reduction linocut print of a wood pigeon using Japanese vinyl.
For layer one I created a colour fade using a range of pink, brown, blue and grey ink in order to capture the essence of a wood pigeons colours in its feathers, along with yellow for the beak. The majority of the vinyl was then cut away in order to reveal highlights and outlines on layer two in a darker brown.
Because of how difficult it is to control the consistency of the appearance of the colour fade, each print is a little different to one another.
This piece was originally created as a commission; it is of ‘Podgin’, a slightly overweight, tame and very friendly wood pigeon who comes to visit the people that commissioned me on their balcony every day, wanting to be fed.
Limited varied edition of 22 prints
