This series of wall sculptures, entitled "Wood 'n steel" is characterized by the combination of wood and steel.
It is symbolic and represents two fundamental stages of human evolution from prehistoric times to the present day.
The first was the use of wood to heat, build shelters, develop the first tools. The second step was the discovery of iron and steel which allowed us to build bigger, higher, to manufacture machines for more performance, speed and increase our work force.
Wood and metal are two materials that I particularly like. The wood is warm and supple but fragile. The steel is cold, rigid but very resistant. Wood is of completely natural origin, steel is a human creation. Everything seems to oppose them, which is why it is interesting to combine them in the same work.
This sculpture is made of pine wood and stainless steel wool lightly tinted with copper paint.
It has two hooks on the back and is ready to hang.
Finally here are some words on my way of working.
I consider that a work of art must remain alive. The artist did not create it to hide it in a drawer or a safe. That's why I always try to keep an aesthetic aspect to my creations. They must be seen and make the happiness and pride of the person who owns it. That's why I pay a lot of attention to the quest for originality and harmony in what I do. These are two major ingredients that make a creation bring something new to all creations of humanity.
Thank you very much for your attention.
