Artwork description:

A linocut inspired by the wild spring flowers and the wildlife of Hastings Country Park.

I've always been impressed by the banks of wild garlic that bloom in the woodland near Hastings in the spring. The type of woodland in the area is called ghyll woodland - a wet woodland found in the extreme upper reaches of rivers, where springs and streams first form in small, steep, wooded valleys. The steep sided nature of ghyll’s has also ensured that many ghyll woodlands have remained untouched and undisturbed by human activity.

The ghyll woodland of Hastings Country Park has many unusual species and was a popular destination for Victorians for fern hunting.

This is a hand-pulled linocut, roughly A4, in oil-based inks in an edition of 50. It is printed on acid-free paper, signed by me, The paper is slightly larger than the image to enable you to frame the image with a standard-sized mount.

I send smaller prints wrapped in cellophane in a reinforced envelope or parcel. Larger prints or international deliveries may be sent rolled in a tube with protective tissue.

Materials used:

oil-based printing inks, colour, lino
