Original artwork description:

Hand embroidered composition of two female figures that are one and the same person, contained within a mountainside (hand cut mounting card). The frame has been custom painted to increase the depth of the final composition.

The artwork represents the bond between two women - sisters, mother & daughter, friends? - and how their mutual experiences increase and solidify their bond.

My work in embroidery comes from an affinity to textiles in contemporary art, as well as the meditative nature of the production of such time consuming, precise pieces.

Materials used:

calico, embroidery thread, mounting card & acrylic paint.
