This is a monotype print of a woman (Matriarch) walking towards the viewer with assertiveness. This was created by painting the image with waterbased printing ink onto an acrylic sheet and then transfering onto cartridge paper through the printing press. The resulting image comes out slightly different from the originally painted image on the plate, revealing the brush marks and printing only those areas still wet and not dried, producing an interesting 'unfinished' look to the image.
I have been experimenting with this process of printing, exploring the relationship between painting and printing. This particular image explore the use of the female form, looking at form, shape, motion and colour. The title responds to the expressionist painting of De Kooning's Woman paintings.
Mount framed in Antique Cream with backing board and polybag sealed. Ready for framing.
