This is a new painting in which I used traditional rendering techniques to emphasize the soft skin texture of the woman and the intricate details of the lace. During the painting process, I first created a fine drawing of the subject as the foundation for the grayscale underpainting (called grisaille), which helped build a strong and detailed color appearance in the final result.
This piece also serves as a demonstration for my students, as I teach an oil painting rendering course at the college level.
