The Saint-Agil wolf is an unusual wolf sculpture from the CalbinoOz series.
It is made from the natural wood of a dried calabash, which has been completely emptied of its seeds and skins, then refilled with clay balls and dried rice.
Like many of his accomplices in the same series, he wears a white knitted jumper with stitches worked from wood cellulose one by one.
His trousers are painted in a wise, eco-friendly leaf green.
Why Saint-Agil? Because, with his paws crossed behind his back, he looks like a rather strange teacher from days gone by, patrolling a boarding school classroom, in homage to a delightful 1938 film by Christian-Jaque.
He has 2 small canines protruding from the end of a long, prominent snout. Signed piece under the paws.
Material: calabash wood, surfine wood pulp, blown glass, acrylic paint and protective varnish.
Dimensions: H32 x W10 x D20 cm
paper mache, calabash wood, blown glass
