The wolf is one of the greatest predators in nature. Many people consider it a totem animal and it is believed to belong to the netherworld. Absolutely fascinating and athletic, the wolf is hard to capture in a sculpture. It could easily turn into a jackal or a dog if the artist fails to depict its specific features. In this figure, I tried to closely follow the animal’s natural forms balancing between the large shapes and the fine characteristic details. My aim was to convey this dangerous predator’s air of confidence and pride, of an animal that was born to hunt and could never be tamed – a glorious son of mother nature.
Krasimir Krustev’s works require within 4 to 8 weeks to make. Every piece of his fine sculptures goes through several stages of creation – modelling, casting in metal and refining. A distinguishing feature of a great part of his hand made sculptures is their jewelry like quality, and every single one of them is created with great care to detail.
