Original artwork description:

I enjoy painting portraits, but prefer to create artworks that have a natural quality. I also enjoy combining detail with abstract elements within paintings.

This painting portrays how I feel about society and its expectations of us as we become older. There is so much pressure on people to remain 'young and beautiful', but I think beauty comes in many forms; I have tried to capture the natural beauty of a face that looks towards the light of wisdom that comes with age.

It has been painted on Two Rivers handmade watercolour paper using professional quality watercolours. It measures 14" X 18" and has a 1" border on each side to allow for framing. It is sold unmounted and unframed.

Every effort has been made to reproduce the colours exactly as the painting, but individual monitor settings can cause slight variations.

Many thanks go to Barbara McIlhany, who shared a wonderful reference photo on PaintMyPhoto that inspired this painting.
