I was just coming back from a doctor's appointment in the middle of the day and I saw this older woman dressed in a kind of "arty" way. She seemed like a kindred spirit and I almost started a conversation with her, but I felt inhibited. She had an elegant scarf, hand-made earrings, and a wonderful hat. I painting her as the focus of the painting.
