Original artwork description:

Painted initially along the shoreline of Wastwater looking North East down the lake towards the iconic mountains of (left to right), High Fell, Lingmell, Great Gable and Scafell. The harsh Winter temperatures meant I had to work quickly. Hot water soon chilled but provided enough time to kept the paint fluid for all my initial gestural underpainting before locking tight and freezing. The painting was completed in the studio whilst the memory of time honoured experience on location was still fresh. The mixed media painting captures a sense of place but more a feeling of the location.

Materials used:

Watercolour, Acrylic Inks, Gouache, Water soluble graphite, charcoal and soft pastel on Canson Moulin du Roy 300gsm (140lb) cold pressed watercolour paper
