Original artwork description:

There are several white barns with a design similar to this one near my home. I was attracted to this scene with the various shades of white in the barn, snow and sycamore trees.

Though it may appear almost monochromatic, the painting surface was built up in multiple layers of oil paint with subtle color variances, using no tube black. It is painted on a stretched canvas using a palette knife and brushes in an impressionistic style with impasto texture.

Rural landscapes and natural areas are becoming increasingly scarce in the much of the country. Neglected farm buildings decay and can be lost to age, fire, and demolition. Once gone, their unique materials and construction cannot be replaced. I enjoy painting their different architectural styles, those well preserved and those weathered and worn, as a tribute to our farming heritage.

If you are interested in purchasing this painting with a frame, I have one available that you may want to consider.

Shipping charges include cost of materials needed to package your painting properly and delivery to the continental US, including insurance coverage.
