I often go for walks in Greenwich park, the colors of the winter twilight have always fascinated me. I really wanted to explore a more impressionistic and impasto approach to capturing a scene, and this piece was one of my most successful studies. I use a quite course linen canvas, which limited the amount of detail I could paint into the work, forcing me to take a more impressionistic approach. This forced me to focus more on the mood and the interaction of the color fields in the composition.
The painting is painted on a deep frame and can be hung unframed.
