Winter Trees is a contemporary mix of pattern and observation.

I have looked at the shapes of bare winter branches, against ice , snow, sky and distant foliage. I have contrasted blues and whites, to show pattern and form.

The work is in acrylic on canvas. Prior to painting I textured the canvas. Some of the branches follow the texture lines, to make them very slightly raised above the surface. Its not really 3D, but it enhances the look of the work, drawing attention to the trees.

The painting is 60 cm square, and has been varnished with good quality UV glossy varnish. This catches the light and makes it shimmer a little. It is ready to hang.
