Winter Spell is a wide panoramic snowy landscape painting showing a white hart against a small group of trees. It is 30x60x1.5 inches and is contemporary art nouveau in style. The paint is thick and textured and the colours range from white through to pinks, lilac greys and the fawn colours of winter in England. It was inspired after a walk I took along the South Downs near Amberley in January. I was in one of the valleys between the hills on my way down to the river Adur when a little group of deer standing by a clump of trees made an appearance. One was a white buck stag. The sun was low behind the trees and it was a perfect moment for me. Though not a traditional landscape, I hope it does give the flavour of this lovely part of Sussex. The painting has deep white edges, is ready to hang and does not need a frame.
