Winter Light

On snowy days this island (Isle of Skye) feels very remote. The top end of the island is a quiet landscape with undulating fields running along the top of the cliffs. It is a place of vast skies filled with light. Small pools of water (called lochans here in Scotland) catch the sunlight from a rosy dawn sky and the bracken breaks through the deep snow in soft fronds of downy gold. The fences here are ages old, generations of crofters have tried to pen off the wild spaces to protect the animals, often without success. The rickety fences are often broken and sheep amble quietly along the roads feeding on the verges. On snowy days like this one, it feels as if you have stepped back in time to a place that has been kept a secret from the rest of the world.

A Note on Canvases
Canvases are unframed and unmounted, they need to be stretched or framed once you get them. They are varnished and come with approximately 2 inch white border to allow for stretching round the frame. Once ready, they are carefully wrapped in acid free tissue then shipped in a sturdy art tube to ensure safe delivery.
