Inspired by the beautiful autumn trees in my garden shedding their leaves ...
Autumn in her rich colours raises her lips to the inevitable lure of Winter, descending from swirling dark clouds to touch her face.
Over on the horizon are two trees, something that I frequently like to paint to suggest love and companionship. These, like Autumn herself, are in the season's glorious colours but have the touches of Winter's breath upon them.
I've used lots of warm yellow, orange and red the lower part of the image and the cooler blue and white at the top. The figure of Autumn herself is painted in gold gouache.
In the photographs, I've tried to show the shininess of the warm gold, as well as taking a few pictures of it outside too to show my inspiration.
There's also a photograph showing the painting on my mantlepiece set in front of a dark wooden antique frame, as well as one taken in my hallway.
I hope that these give an idea of the size of the painting in a room setting.
It is painted on my favourite grey Indian paper - a handmade 100% cotton rag, naturally dyed this subtle shade of grey.
I've used Derwent Inktense colours and Winsor & Newton gold gouache.
The paper size is approx 12 x 16.5/17" with an uneven deckle edge. This could be made a feature of at the time of framing. A good framer will advise.
Packed carefully and sent by Tracked delivery.
Certificate of Authenticity will be included.
NB for UK orders I tend to use Royal Mail's Tracked Next day/24/48 hour delivery.
For overseas orders I use Courier.
