Original artwork description:

This large painting was painted at the beginning of November as a plein air painting in Tyrol, Austria. The mountains are capped with fresh snow but the autumn sunshine is still warm in the valley. I have tried to convey this by using warm autumnal hues for the foreground in contrasted to the the cool blue sky above the snowy peaks. As I always paint real places rather than some fanstasy landscape, I added the sign “Tiroler Christbaum” which was actually there as I think it fits the subject– it means that you can buy those smaller trees in the foreground as Christmas trees just a few months later! On the other hand, their majestic neighbours to the left and right show that in Tyrol, if left for a few years, the trees grow much higher!!

This original watercolour painting was painted on 650g, 100% cotton rag, mould-made paper using Windsor and Newton watercolour paints and it comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.

Materials used:

650g, 100% cotton rag, mould-made paper
