Original artwork description:

There is a small, but charming old town in Germany called Swabian Hall (Schwäbisch Halle)
I managed to watch it when my husband and I were on vacation in Germany.
As a child, I was very fond of the Brothers Grimm's fairy tales, and as you know, these are German storytellers. I still remember many fairy tales. And from some, there were some sensations, fragmentary memories. In that thick book of fairy tales, I remember, there were monochrome illustrations. I forgot in what fairy tale there was a "gingerbread house". And when I, for the first time, as an adult, saw the drawings and photographs of houses with half-timbered structures, I realized that this was precisely what the "gingerbread house" was.
And Swabian Hall inspired me to paint a picture with such houses from a fairy tale. The painting does not precisely copy the cityscape, and it is my perception of the city. And it can be any of the many beautiful old towns in Germany, France, and Belgium.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I painted the picture with oil paints, but I covered the first layer of the canvas with golden acrylic. This "gold" softly shines through the layers of oil, giving the picture a fabulous shimmer.
The ends of the picture are painted with the same golden acrylic. The painting does not need to be made into a baguette. Since the painting has a small format, I can send it without removing it from the stretcher.

Materials used:

professional oil paints, acrylic paint, stretched canvas
