I made 'Winter Crossing' following a late winter trip to St Petersberg. Depicting the Trinity Bridge across the River Neva, the frozen river has begun to flow but the bridge remains snow covered.
This print is a sugarlift aquatint, a process which begins with the image being painted in a sugar solution onto a copper plate. It is printed on Somerset Velvet, a heavyweight 300 gsm handmade paper from St Cuthbert's Mill in Somerset and is signed and numbered by the artist.
