Winter Calls is a wide panoramic oil painting on canvas of a winter landscape with a herd of deer in a birch tree forest with snow. It is 16x40x1.5 inches with white edges, no frame needed. The background is lilac, grey, and white and the deer, stags and does, are transparent as if blinking in and out of existence. It was inspired by a winter walk in the Ashdown forest where you can spot deer quite easily but as soon as you take your eyes off of them, the vanish. Deer have a habit of appearing and disappearing very suddenly and though I see them often on my walks in Sussex and Kent, they never cease to make me happy.
