I live near Greenwich Park in London, and one winter afternoon I decided to go for a walk to try and capture the light which is so beautiful in such a beautiful place. I wanted to immerse myself in a more traditional and atmospheric approach to painting. I wanted to capture the beautiful light on the tree in the foreground and show how the shadows faded back into the distance to reach the light shining through the other side.
This piece was shown only once in the Blackheath Art Society exhibition in 2017, as a result the piece is framed in a deep tray frame which is an unusual move for me, but suits it beautifully and remains one of my favorite landscapes to date.
