This is one of several paintings I have done in a post-impressionist style called cloisonnism. This style is characterised by bold and flat forms separated by dark contours. The term was coined by critic Édouard Dujardin on the occasion of the Salon des Indépendants, in March 1888.
'Winter 1' can be viewed as a pure abstract but also as branches in winter and windows. Although 'Winter 1' is small it is very dramatic and would be a colourful addition to any room.
It is painted with acrylic paint on canvas. The canvas is stretched over an internal wooden frame. It is ready to hang.
