Original artwork description:
I do still get commissions to paint animals; mostly horses and dogs, like this one of Winnie the Chocolate Labrador.
I start with just black paint and mark in all the shadows and lines and then layer in the colours.
I always find that once I’ve painted the eyes I know whether I’ve captured a good likeness.
This painting is in acrylic on a 16 x 20 inch box canvas with Matt varnish to protect.
